The “Gang of Eight” has introduced the immigration reform bill in the Senate.
The bill has been titled the “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act.” This bill is what eight Senators think should happen with immigration reform. Ninety-two other Senators now get to make changes to it before it is voted on.
If the bill passes in the Senate, it will then go to the House of Representatives, where its 435 members also get to make changes before they vote on it.
Because major changes will happen to the bill, and because it is not yet law, no advice can be given on whether a person will qualify for benefits under it at this time.
Please do not be victimized by notarios or unscrupulous attorneys telling you you qualify under this bill. It is not law yet.
