Students Currently on OPT Who Are Applying For H–1B Get Their OPT Extended
USCIS has announced that students who are currently working pursuant to their Optional Practical Training, and have applied for H–1B status, will automatically get their OPT and F–1 status extended to the earlier of a denial of the H–1B Petition or October 1st.
Unfortunately, this extension will not apply to students whose H–1B petition was not accepted for processing.
