H-1B Visas for 2007-08 Run Out in One Day!
April 2nd was the first day that petitions for H-1B visas for the 2008 Federal fiscal year could be filed. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services has accounced that it received more than enough applications on April 2nd to use up all of the 65,000 H-1B visas available.
USCIS reports that it received 150,000 petitions on April 2nd. It will therefore apply it computer-generated random selection process to all filings received, meaning that no one is assured of even having their petition adjudicated. At least every other filing will be rejected and returned!
US employers must now face an additional year without having the workers they need, and the US economy and world leadership suffer as a consequence.
